The Origin

Cold Water Diver was launched as a Blog first in 2010, and became more professional as time progressed and my diving became more professionally oriented. The main focus, initially, was reviews of dive sites, safe diving articles, and some limited conservation content.

The Blue Host Era

An unfortunate call that I made in 2012 was moving the site to Blue Host. No smoke at them, but it was a poor business choice and a bad call for the site in general. Everything I uploaded there would eventually be lost, then partially recovered, and serious lessons were learned. This was the most active time for the site, and saw me become a small fish on the scuba diving web and social media scene. This was also the period I burned myself out in. It was the apex of blogs, and the advice I got was for a frankly unsustainable content schedule. I ground out articles and scrambled to find things to post on social media, and by 2014, as I was getting back into college, it was too much. I pulled pin and let the site sit.

The Quiet Years

My last posts were in 2014 or 2015, and as I moved forward with academic and technical certifications outside of scuba diving, I ceased posting. There were a few social media posts during the pandemic, but by and large, from then till 2025, I dropped off the face of the planet as a diver and participant in the scuba diving world.

Return to Surface

Cold Water Diver is back and looking better than ever. The old stylings are gone, the place looks more modern, and I’m working on other stuff to get this site back in order. The main focus of the site, for a while at least, is going to be the fitness journey I’m on to get back in the water safely. There’s going to be a focus on dive safety and planning too, so not every article is going to be about me trying to lose weight. Then, when I’m back in the water, the content will have a minor shift to staying in shape as an over 40 diver, and a return to form with dive sites and pics.
